ROOM DESCRIPTION
408 Umdloti Resort is a beautifully appointed single bedroom apartment situated on the main beachfront of the quaint seaside village of Umdloti, a mere 10 minute drive from King Shaka International Airport. As such Umdloti is the ideal stopover for people entering or exiting KwaZulu-Natal exploring the rich diversity of beaches, game reserves, mountains and culture or merely visiting on business. Umdloti itself is blessed with beautiful user friendly beaches, world class restaurants and convenient shopping in the new Salta Marine Walk Boutique Shopping Centre.
The bright sunny apartment faces north east with a lovely view of the morning sunrise over the sea. The kitchen is compact and opens to the lounge area and is fully equipped to cater for even the most elaborate dinner. There is fast unlimited Wi-Fi and a Smart TV for guest entertainment.
The apartment is air conditioned for guest comfort in the hot summer months and the bedroom’s Queen Size bed is dressed in the finest white pure cotton linen. Alongside the bedroom is the bathroom with a shower, basin and toilet.
There are two large outdoor swimming pools, a kiddie’s pool and an extensive area with braai / barbecue facilities and seating. Parking is in an open bay in the basement below the apartment and behind access controlled gates that are monitored 24 hours by Security. As such, arrivals and departures are simple at any time of the day or night,
Within the apartment building complex are two world-class fine dining restaurants (Bel Punto and Mundo Vida), the Bush Tavern (the friendly local bar and family restaurant) and Manta Café, a bright open beach style coffee shop. All of these restaurants are situated right across from the beach and have stunning sea views.
Umdloti beaches are very user friendly and the swimming area is patrolled by lifeguards and protected by shark nets. There are a myriad of inshore tidal pools to explore at low tide and the Umdloti Beach Tidal Pool system is a quick walk up the beach.
The annual migration of the Humpbacked whales are sighted close inshore with the first sightings starting around mid-June and then seen daily from August through to the end of November.
The annual sardine run in June and July, “The Greatest Shoal on Earth”, is another greatly anticipated migration phenomena here in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Although not predictable and not always reaching Umdloti, this “the largest bio-mass migration on the planet” is a must see when it does occur and Umdloti is well located as a base from which to experience it.
As mentioned, Umdloti is located on what is marketed as the Dolphin Coast and rightly so as patrolling dolphins are sighted almost daily close in-shore. Having coffee in the morning at Manta Cafe and watching these iconic animals cruise by is a memorable experience.
